The webinar series ‘Embracing global markets’ supports European small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups to innovate and expand in Asia, Africa and the Americas. The webinars are hosted by experts of various European Commission services and the 'Enterprise Europe Network', the world's largest business service provider.
Who should attend?
The webinar aims at European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups (ready to scale internationally), beneficiaries or holders of seals of excellence of the European Innovation Council, European clusters and cluster managers, business advisers of the Enterprise Europe Network and other European business support organisations, including all stakeholders of the ‘Friends of EEN’ initiative.
Objectives
This webinar will introduce business opportunities and internationalisation support for EU SMEs in the Japanese market.
It will provide strategic insights in the greentech and smart-factory robotics sectors for EU businesses looking to enter the Japanese market, and will present testimonies of European SMEs that have successfully entered the Japanese market.

Manuel Hubert has worked for the European Commission on financial planning, employment policies, and has focused on international dimension of European industrial policies, in particular international supply chains partnerships and FTAs.
Myrthe is a coordinator for Enterprise Europe Network Japan at the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, where she supports connections between EU and Japanese companies.
For the EU-Japan Centre, Denis is working on two projects in the green transition sector, promoting EU-based SMEs in Japan. Having worked for over five years in Tokyo, his extensive knowledge of the local business culture is now shared with European executives through the centre’s helpdesks, seminars, and activities.
Colin McGuckin is the founder of CTIBiotech (France) and has worked with the EU-Japan Centre network to advance business relations in Japan for several years, successfully working with more than 30 Japanese organisations to promote biomedical innovations.
Christos is a Policy Officer at the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs, where he plays a pivotal role in the Industrial Forum, Alliances, and Clusters unit.
Rim supports industrial high-tech SMEs in reaching their innovation goals and matching them with relevant international cooperation and business partners. He also leads the group of Network specialists active in the field of microelectronics.
Over 34 years of experience in consultancy services and project management in various sectors such as emerging digital tech, infrastructure, real estate development, health, and public administration. Co-founder of Zertifier, ZertiCarbon, CompactHabit, PerformLAB, Suprebat and Innovative ProtecTextiles.
Sonja is project manager and Network sustainability adviser at Bayern Innovativ, partner in the Enterprise Europe Network. As chair of the Network renewable energy expert group, she is connecting regional SMEs from the energy sector with European and international cooperation partners. She is also supporting companies with regard to sustainability issues.
