Additive manufacturing creates three-dimensional objects by layer-by-layer deposition of material. This process offers many advantages compared to traditional manufacturing methods, such as tool-free production of arbitrary and complex geometries. In particular, material extrusion processes are characterized by high automation and scalability. However, the widespread adoption of additive manufacturing, especially material extrusion processes, is hindered by several disadvantages: current limitations of the process include poor surface quality, anisotropic mechanical properties, the need for support structures for complex parts, long production times, and the requirement of extensive process knowledge to apply the technology.
This process preparation software developed by a German company addresses these disadvantages by optimizing the slicing process through application-oriented layer planning, resulting in precise representation of free-form surfaces. Additionally, the software reduces material consumption, accelerates production time, and improves surface quality, while also enhancing part strength and stiffness.
